TheKnot.com 2005 - Present. Austin, TXPosition/Title: Web Developer. Duties included:
- Maintain front end for the best-known wedding site on the Web. Updates and fixes are time critical. XHTML/HTML/JavaScript code is written following web standards and striving to reach the largest possible audience by supporting all major browsers. Web site runs on ASP.NET.
- Create HTML templates, HTML emails, forms for polls and other internet marketing materials.
- Involved in company wide re-coding effort to update front end code from HTML 4.01 Transitional to pages using XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS-based layout.
Position/Title: Web Developer. Duties included:
- Responsible for re-coding an HTML demo designed to showcase accessibility features for blind and low visibility users. I re-coded the demo using semantically correct XHTML and changed the demo’s layout from table-based to CSS-based. I also made the demo fully accessible to blind and keyboard-only users by adhering to IBM’s accessibility standards.
- Create four alternate style sheets for demo. The style sheets were designed for the low visibility user and featured zoom, high-contrast and single column styles. I also used JavaScript to create a style sheet switcher to enable users to choose a style sheet on the fly and have the browser keep track of last style chosen.
Position/Title: Web Developer. Duties included:
- Create clean, production quality XHTML code from Photoshop mockups and older HTML pages. I wrote all the code by hand, using valid semantically correct XHTML, proper CSS and some JavaScript.
- Migrate web content from table-based layout pages using HTML 4.01 Transitional to pages using XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS-based layout. Part of team implementing a site-wide redesign.
Position/Title: Web Developer. Duties included:
- Evaluate IBM’s online problem tracking application for web accessibility. I used Webking and IBM Home Page Reader to test the application's user interface.
- Responsible for re-coding UI following accessibility guidelines of the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI), Section 508 and IBM's internet standards. The application's front end is driven by Mason (Mod-Perl), XML/XSLT, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. The accessibility changes had to be made within the framework of i18n (internationalization). The application was developed in an Apache/UNIX and DB2 environment.
- Responsible for producing iterative documentation for each step of UI development.
- Created mockups in Photoshop and HTML to illustrate user flows and UI elements.
- Responsible for evaluating and re-coding GUI for a database administration tool. The tool is a Java web application built using Java Struts as its framework. The front end had to be recoded to be compliant with W3C’s WAI, Section 508 and IBM's intranet standards. I used XHTML, JavaScript, CSS and some JSP/Struts tags to make the tool compliant. All development was conducted in a WebSphere Application Development environment.
Position/Title: Web Developer/Graphic Designer. Duties include:
- Develop, design and deploy HTML, CSS and JavaScript code for local e-commerce website. Web pages were integrated into a PHP and MySQL backend. The look and feel of the online store was designed using Photoshop, Illustrator and CSS.
- Create web and corporate image graphics using Photoshop and Illustrator. I use Flash and LiveMotion for projects that require animation and 3d Studio Max, Poser and Bryce for projects that require 3d graphics.
- Design letterheads, envelopes, flyers, mailers, brochures, business cards and logos using Illustrator, Freehand, InDesign and QuarkXpress. Prepare graphic material for prepress.
- Develop web pages for clients using HTML, JavaScript and Flash. Web pages are deployed in a PHP environment. I use Dreamweaver to integrate the HTML pages and the PHP code.
- Responsible for designing and deploying a graphic user interface (GUI) into a PHP and MySQL backend that automated agent enrollment and sales for a health insurance company. GUI was designed using Photoshop for the graphics. I also integrated GUI with back end and wrote style sheets using Dreamweaver.
- Part of a team of researchers and journalists that provided Information Graphics to the third largest news agency in the world. The information graphics were created using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Streamline and Acrobat.
- Tutor local elementary school teachers in the creation of web pages for their campus and classrooms. I created a Contribute template to provide the school with content.
Position/Title: Thin GUI Developer. Duties included:
- Developed and deployed elements of GUI (graphic user interface) in Flash, HTML, XML, JavaScript, Sound Forge and ColdFusion for the web based Customer Information System of PEC (Pedernales Electric Cooperative).
- Recorded and edited audio clips using Sound Forge. Some of the audio was cleaned using Diamond Cut software. Evaluated several digital audio formats (WAV, QuickTime, MP3, etc) to find optimal size for deployment of the audio as part of the application’s GUI.
- Instantiated designs into Flash and HTML mockups.
- Design of overall look and feel of application using Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
- Created a Flash version of the company’s brochure.

- Designed and maintained test web sites using ColdFusion, HTML and JavaScript.
- Part of a team dedicated to automate testing of the company’s web based software using WinRunner and some script writing in TSL.
- Created Flash presentations designed to explain complex technical concepts to American Express decision makers.

- Used HTML, XML, JavaScript and WebL to maintain an e-commerce solution for clients of Globeset’s electronic wallet such as American Express, Citibank and Visa. The electronic wallet was a secure, data-driven JSP web application.

Position/Title: Web Developer/Designer. Duties included:
- Graphic designer in a team of web developers involved in several projects. Duties included the design of web sites, the design of the User Interface of web-based tools and the creation of multimedia presentations using Flash and Photoshop.
- I was also involved in writing and maintaining scripts for Globeset’s electronic wallet. Scripts were written in XML and WebL and required knowledge of e-commerce architecture and web technologies such as HTML, XML and JavaScript.
- Used Flash, Sound Forge and Photoshop to create a bilingual audiovisual presentation to introduce an Austin based Software house to the Latin-American market.
Position/Title: Multimedia Designer. Duties included:
- Design of web pages for the company and its line of products and services using Photoshop, HTML, JavaScript, and Flash.
- Design and test of GUIs for in-house software products using Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Illustrator and Flash.
- As part of a team I designed web-based educational material to be used in long distance learning application. The material included graphics created in Photoshop, streaming audio (live and pre-recorded) using RealProducer, webcam pictures and Flash animations.
- Design of presentations for products and for high-level executives presentations using Flash, Director and video. Video was shot using S-VHS. I digitized the video and edited with Premier. I added effects and titles with After Effects. Digital videos were inserted into Director movies for presentations or were uploaded to the web as QuickTime files.
- Cooperated with programmers to create interface and add video to Sign Language Multimedia CD-ROM that won the 1998 AHCIET award for Best R&D project. The CD-ROM featured a sign language dictionary that uses over 1400 video clips. The videos were shot in S-VHS and were edited in Adobe Premier. The UI was created in Macromedia Director.
- Part of a team in charge of setting up and running a Real Audio radio station for the corporate intranet. The intranet radio station streamed live events and also pre-recorded music.
- Production of a marketing video for long distance learning application Educatel. Responsibilities included the pricing and hiring of video production crew, any arrangements needed to shoot the video (locations, cast, etc) and the delivery of the final product to the company.
Position/Title: Web designer Instructor/Web designer. Duties included:
- Meet with clients to choose strategy for their web pages.
- Design web pages, graphics, icons and logos as needed using Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.
- Teach basics of web design, image composition and graphic design to high school teachers of the Bogotá school district.
Position/Title: Audio Visual Producer Duties included:
- Video production and post-production for Taller de Inventica an advertising firm in Bogotá, Colombia. Videos were shot in ¾” video tape using professional Betacams cameras. Responsibilities included arranging for locations, cast, equipment, etc.
- Edited digital training video for a prominent Colombian snack food company. Videos were used to train sales representatives.
Position/Title: Graphic Designer. Duties included:
- Graphic designer in a Desktop Publishing company. Used Photoshop and Illustrator for image creation and PageMaker for layout.
- Duties included page layout and design and pre-press using PageMaker and QuarkXpress.
